About the IEC of Kentucky & Southern Indiana

The Independent Electrical Contractors Association of Kentucky and Southern Indiana is a local chapter of the National IEC. The sixty-two electrical contractor members in the local chapter share common goals with the more than 3,500 IEC members across the country.

From Scottsburg, Corydon, and New Albany in Indiana, to Shelbyville, Elizabethtown, Bardstown, and Louisville in Kentucky, local IEC member contractors represent a work force of over 2,200. With an emphasis on training, safety, and professional development, the merit-shop philosophy flourishes in the Kentuckiana area where IEC members perform over 85% of all electrical construction.

IEC of Kentucky and Southern Indiana is an approved education provider for Kentucky electrical license continuing education. Over its 35 year history, IEC has proven to be a leader in electrical education. With 230 apprentice electricians currently enrolled in the local training program, over 1000 people enrolled in IEC continuing education programs each year, and a full-time Safety Director on staff, IEC of Kentucky and Southern Indiana sets the standard for electrical education.

IEC is recognized state-wide, with chapters in Louisville, Northern Kentucky, Ashland, and Lexington, and has been instrumental in lobbying legislation related to electrical licensing and small business. IEC members serve on National Electrical Code Making Panels and local regulatory boards.
